Melissa Shelton, PA-C

Melissa Shelton is a board-certified Physician Assistant and native of North Carolina. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina Central University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Shortly after, Melissa was commissioned as a 2LT in the Army and continued her education through the Inter-Service Physician Assistant Program earning her master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2007.
Over her 17 years as an active-duty officer, Melissa served the majority of her career in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. She served overseas in Korea for two years and served on two combat tours to Afghanistan (2002 and 2011) and one combat tour to Iraq (2003) while working as a Flight Surgeon for a Blackhawk Battalion.
Melissa made the transition to the civilian sector in 2018 and went on to practice Urgent and Primary Care. Melissa enjoys getting to know her patients and believes the patient-physician relationship is important in helping the patient reach their best health. Melissa strongly believes in empowering her patients with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions and fully participate in their care.
Melissa enjoys working with the youth at her church, singing in the choir, and participating in the dance and women’s group ministries. She also enjoys long walks in the park and spending time with her 8-year-old toy poodle, Bear.
